Bugs plague our gardens
Gamers unhappy with the glitches affecting the Viva Piñata gaming experience
Rare has been quick to respond to a rising number of complaints concerning glitches in the newly released Viva Piñata. Within days of Viva Piñata’s release, several complaints appeared on the official Xbox 360 forums, largely to do with disappearing items and characters in the game, and a seemingly unstable game engine.
Viva Piñata owners complained of newly acquired items suddenly disappearing from their gardens, and reported instances of the game not saving acquired items upon loading a previously saved game. Additionally, some users complained of their piñatas getting stuck in certain places around the garden, rendering the garden useless, and more still told of constant issues of the game freezing in certain places. One Piñata fan expressed his dismay at Viva Piñata’s glitchy engine, explaining that while he was enjoying the title “the disappearing items and occasional freezes are disturbing.”
Upon receiving news of the complaints, Rare quickly swung into action, posting an official response on the Xbox 360 forums. ‘Matt’, a member of the Piñata development team, requested the assistance of Piñata owners, asking them to record and send Rare details of glitches they experienced in the game.
An immediate solution to the issues from Rare was not forthcoming, but a downloadable patch, aimed at fixing the problem of disappearing items and the inconsistent game-engine, is expected to be available to download through Xbox Live in the coming weeks.
