Diddy faces PAL release controversy
Europe may not be getting the game until late 2007
Despite the fact that the marketing machine for Diddy Kong Racing DS in America is already in full swing ahead of its February 5th release, European gamers have been left in the dark. May the Aussie date be of any indication?
Like many other Rare handheld titles, DKR DS first got an European release date before America did: a vague Q1 2007. But when Nintendo firmly annouced its plans for this year, Diddy was missing. Whilst Nintendo of Europe lists the release date in ‘Q1 2007′, CVG last week pointed at a ‘late 2007′ release as being more likely. Nothing unusual if you bear in mind the huge delays of other DS titles such as Star Fox Command or Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis (both being released half a year late).
So, when will DKR DS see the light of day in Europe? If Aussie release date (slated as “early April”) tells us something, it may be for the end of Springtime, since other DS games are being released in Europe one or two months after they hit its Antipodes.
But should we really care about all this issue? With handheld systems being region free, and the strength of the Euro against the US Dollar, definitely there are no disadvantages on buying it in a online store. It’s cheaper, you’ll get it sooner, and they even send it to your mailbox. So, what are you waiting for?
