Diddy Kong and friends hit the charts
Rare’s first DS title sells well in the first month
The NPD sales for February are up, and while there’s the talk about the Game Boy Advance doing better than the Playstation 3, over here at MundoRare there’s something of more interest. Diddy Kong Racing DS, Rare’s first foray into the world of dual screens based on 1997’s DKR for the N64 has done very well in the first month, selling 262,000 copies of the game. As a result, it was the third best selling game of the month, highest DS game of the month and the top game without an incentive overshadowing the actual game (we’re looking at you, Crackdown and Wii Play).
Also of note, Viva Piñata is still selling (albeit low), with the month of February having 18,000 copies of the game purchased.
A very good starting month for Diddy Kong and friends, despite the undeservingly low reviews critics gave the title when it released. Congratulations are in order to Rare for having another of their games hit the charts.
