DKR is bigger than the PS3

Which could be not saying much, but Diddy still tops the DS ranks

The NPD sales for March place DKR as the best selling DS game of the month and keep it in the overall top ten, having 189,000 copies sold. There is not so much demand as during the launch dates, although the numbers are high enough to make Diddy the king of the DS ranks for a second month in a row.

In fact, Diddy’s racing game stands by itself as a bigger success than the PS3 or PSP consoles, which have sold a total of 130,000 and 180,000 units respectively. It’s even nearly as successful as the Xbox 360 with its 199,000 purchases. And yet, DKR DS is just a ten-year old remake for a handheld console.

Ironically, this also means that Rare still works way too much better with Nintendo than with Microsoft. Even if Viva Piñata was one of the mainstays of the last Christmas for the 360 and certainly one of the best games that Rare has recently developed, its selling numbers never even approached the greatest records of that season. No to mention that the sole idea of having a Rare title topping the Xbox ranks sounds as improbable as Will Ferrer leading a sociopolitical drama.
