Rumours on a second Perfect Dark sequel / prequel arise
It would follow the storyline after PDZ
A year and a half after the release of Perfect Dark Zero, the unavoidable rumours on a possible sequel of the game finally arise. Surprisingly, the source of all is the Official Xbox Magazine, who also quotes an official press release about Greg Rucka’s third novel inside the PD universe.
According to the Rumour Mole section of the May edition of OXM: “The Mole’s pals in the book industry have tipped us off to a sequel to Perfect Dark Zero by way of a press release announcing the next novel in the paperback series that also mentions a follow-up to the game…”
Greg Rucka’s first and second novel, Initial Vector and Second Front, were both published in the US by Tor Books in May 2006 and January 2007 respectively. It seems that the third installment is supposed to see the light of day this very same year.
According to this, if Rare is already developing a new prequel of the original Perfect Dark for Nintendo 64, the plot of the game would just fit in the timeline somewhere between the ending of PDZ and Joanna Dark’s first mission for the Carrington Institute in Perfect Dark 64. Thus, it wouldn’t be any alien species involved in the new storyline, since Jo doesn’t meet the extraterrestrial complot until she uncovers dataDyne’s contacts with the Skedars in PD.
MundoRare is already trying to find out more about that press release, a possible PDZ sequel and also the third novel of Greg Rucka’s PD series.
