Banjo-Kazooie 3, still in development
Rumours about a cancellation, officially denied by Rare
During last weekend rumours about a possible cancelation of a major Xbox game have been shaking the Net. Where did all that begin? The last 1Up podcast, where EGM editor Shane Bettenhausen stated that “There is a big MS 1st party title that has been in the works for a very long time and that people are very excited for, sounds like it’s being canceled.” Moreover, he gave this rumor “a 97% chance.” Of course, immediately, every single website came out with their own thoughts, generating a massive lottery of which Microsoft Game Studios title was going to be canned. It’s hardly surprising that, after a whole year without new stuff of the game, Banjo-Kazooie 3 got lots of mentions.
MundoRare has contacted directly with Rare to ask about this situation, and despite not usually commenting on rumours, a company spokesperson -without accepting if those rumours are, in fact, true- has told us clearly that “it’s not Banjo. Fact.”
With a tentative 2008 release date, BK3 is at this point the only official Xbox 360 game in the works in Twycross, which of course doesn’t mean there are no others behind the scenes. Since the original X06 teaser trailer, there has not been any new stuff, though, and Rare has stated many times that it’s still too soon to unveil gameplay or plot details.
