Piñatas run out of Rare’s hands in November

Viva Piñata PC and Party Animals, hitting the stores all over the world

In the last year Rare has been transformed into a paper maché factory machine: after all, Viva Piñata has indeed become an established franchise, after selling a half million units, which isn’t that bad from our point of view (although we all know that the DS version will probably sell that same number in a couple of months). Anyway, despite having created these cute animals, they have already run out of their hands, with the TV series getting a second season, plus the port of Piñata to PC and Krome Studios finally releasing their Party title.

Maybe we haven’t explicitly explained this before, but we are not covering these games, just because –obviously– they are not Rare games, in the same way we didn’t take care of some mobile versions of Rare GBA titles. In spite of it, we wanted to warn you all about the coming Piñata related releases, since –after all– they feature some creatures that were originally made up by the guys over Twycross.

Viva Piñata Party Animals, the Xbox alternative to Mario Party (albeit with boring minigames and a patent lack of charisma), is already in stores in America, and it will arrive to Europe in a couple of weeks: the official release date has been set on November 16. We are planning to offer you a brief special review from our perspective as Rare fans; however, we can, anticipate that it will not be in our Outside Rare section, since it seems the game doesn’t deserve such honours according to other sites’ recent reviews.

Viva Piñata PC, the port by Climax of the truly Rare Xbox title, will be available in America on November 6, followed by Europe also on November 16, while Japan will manage to play with it on January 18.

For some extra details of Rare’s thoughts on the new titles of the Piñata universe, you can check the exclusive interview with Rare’s Viva Piñata producer, Steve Brand, that we offered you some months ago.
