Grunty’s new rhyming and not-huge Tooie worlds a-milking
A week after Scribes, Gregg Mayles brings extra BK3 info
As a present for the Rare Witch Project, Ghouly Boy (aka Gregg Mayles) decided to answer a grand total of 12 questions (and 2 additional bonus ones) regarding their hotly anticipated title, Banjo-Kazooie 3. Without further ado:
- Banjo-Needsanamie will in fact take place after Banjo-Tooie, which took place in 2000.
- A multiplayer mode is planned, but it won’t be “like Banjo-Tooie’s though. No FPS sections, either.” Nothing about the usage of Xbox Live was mentioned, but considering the requirement of it with every 360 game, there’s probably little to no reason to doubt a lack of Live.
- “The ‘not 100′ Jiggies are still used to progress through the game, but the way they are obtained and used is different. Also expect changes to the Notes and Jinjos” One has to wonder what exactly Mayles means by the change of the Notes and Jinjos. Bring on the speculation!
- When asked about whether or not the game would still exude charm, Mayles answered with a “Don’t worry, we may be introducing something different to the Banjo universe but this remains a Banjo game.”
- According to Mayles, we haven’t seen the new style of gameplay that has been previously implied in the past in any game before.
- Old levels will be in the game, “But probably not how you expect!” Whether or not Stop ‘n’ Swop will be referenced is unknown. Oh, what the hell, you know it will be.
- About Grunty’s rhyming back again, he states: “Her silly comments will be a pain, yes the witch will rhyme again.” Enough said. Let the cheers begin.
- We’re going to have more freedom in this game. Whatever that means.
- In what makes this writer extremely happy: When asked about whether or not the worlds would be physically much larger, Mayles said “NO- I agree that some of the worlds in Banjo-Tooie were a little too complicated and we have tried to ensure the worlds in the new game are interesting to navigate without being overly complex.” If you’ve ever wanted proof that Rare learns from their mistakes, it’s this quote right here.
- There will be a new hub world this time, which Mayles has labeled “Conflagration Violent.”
- There are clues in the Christmas Card relating to Threeie, according to Mayles. Whether or not we will see the cleverly covered “CUNT” in the final version is up to your deity of choice.
- In another tidbit that has made this writer happy, Mayles does confirm that the game is more than halfway complete.
- Mumbo Jumbo will in fact be in this game, “But he has a new role. As does Humba.” Two characters confirmed at once. Good going, Mayles.
- And last but not least, Grunty’s head is in the fireplace of Rare’s Christmas Card.
A lot of Banjo information when we least expected that will no doubt have us asking more within the next year. Be sure to check out the RWP topic for the full list of questions and answers.
