Bungie beats Rare at Halo 3 multiplayer
Bungie won the first two rounds, Rare the third and last
Oh, man. This is so embarrassing. But we have to tell you. Six days ago we got an e-mail from Rare informing us that they would be taking on Bungie in their so-called Hump Day Challenge, some sort of gun-firing fuss that the creators of Halo kick up from time to time so they can defy other people, shoot them up and then feel better in some weird, deranged way. Rare employees are no rookies with FPS games, but as the wicked Benedict from Last Action Hero said, “in this world, the bad guys can win”.
After one afternoon of epic, courageous fight, Rare allies succumbed against the push of Bungie’s evil killing machines. Here are the results of such historic match:
- Round 1: Team BR on Guardian: Bungie 50 v Rare 41
- Round 2: MLG Slayer on Pit: Bungie 50 v Rare 44
- Round 3: Team Rockets on Construct: Bungie 72 v Rare 100
They were close, but not enough. Casualties include Anthony Salway, David Pashute, Gavin Price and former wild piñata species caretaker James Thomas.
Videos of their gallant defeat can be found at Bungie’s official website, on Thomas’ fileshare. And honestly, we could’ve been way rougher about all this, since it’s widely known our healthy hatred towards the amazingly overrated Halo franchise. But it turns out that Halo 3 is unexpectedly a decent game. So too bad Bungie decided to quit when they finally figured out how to make (and apparently play) good shooters.
