It’s the Banjo Countdown
"Arse" becomes a key element of the hype campaign!
Isn’t it amazing when Rare games get a release date? It doesn’t happen everyday, especially with Rare’s esteem for vague launch details and their typical delays. But I must admit there is something even more rare than a Twycross-made game getting a release date, and that’s a Rare title getting an unveling date!
Unfortunately, our fave company it’s not well known for meeting expectations towards major gaming events, and if you think about all the recent releases, none of them were really revealed in the expected moment. Some Jetpac Refuelled stuff was leaked by an Spanish website before anybody could react; Perfect Dark Zero suffered a dissociative identity disorder with many Joannas being shown before E3 2005, but with the game becoming a no-show in the end; Kameo has had so many versions that we’d need help from a renowned archeologist to explain its past; and Viva Piñata suddenly came from nowhere two years ago a randow day just before Springtime. The history of the handheld catalogue would even need its own article to be explained in detail. So it’s not strange that Rare fans have even lost interest in the american massive gaming event, the E3, after several years of drought.
But now, Rare followers finally have an specific date to mark in their calendars. May 13th! The definitive unveiling date for the third installment of the Banjo-Kazooie series in a home console.
The D-day has just been revealed in the NeoGAF forums by one of the lucky journalist that recently had the chance to attend the very exclusive Rare meeting in Twycross, when the British developers finally showed the game to some selected media: “I went to Rare to see the game two weeks ago and let me just say that this is the biggest evidence of the return of great Rare I’ve seen in quite a while… and the teaser site will all make sense, when the game is unveiled (embargo is lifted the 13th of May),” the gaming industry worker, nicknamed NeXuSDK, commented.
But wait! Before you start complaining about the reliability of this apparently anonymous commentary, let us clarify that NeXuSDK immediatly become quite trustworthy after posting a photograph of Banjo inside Rare’s HQ, Manor Park, fingering… well… the very own journo’s Arse™ (I bet this will delight Mr Loveday in future Scribes editions).
So, lock your doors and prepare your popcorns. Banjo’s coming!
Only three weeks to go… Arse!! I mean… Huzzah!!
