Scribes 10th Anniversary, full of Banjo info
Bottles, Mr. Vile, Weldar, a lack of splitting up, and Tiptup!
Just a couple of days to go until B-Day, and Rare decided to surprise us and upload a Scribes instead of the Pantsboard most of us claimed to believe. For the sake of simplicity, the general information will be split into two parts: Banjo-Soclosetoseeingthegameie, and everything else.
Without further ado… the Banjo section.
- Tooty, Brentilda, and “the inexplicably odd vegetables with Googly Eyes” were mentioned, with an additional comment that there are “rumours that one of them has escaped.” Place your bets, but don’t hold your breath for the Rare-loathed Tooty.
- Despite the repeated secrecy that Loveday is claiming to uphold, he let slip that Weldar will in fact be back for this game.
- In news that personally makes me happy, Banjo and Kazooie will not be splitting up in the upcoming game. Good riddance, I say. The more elements brought back from Kazooie rather than Tooie, the better.
- Will Mr. Vile come back? According to Loveday, “Mr. Vile was flushed down Loggo. He must be massive by now.” Of course, he could’ve simply denied it, but remember that our favorite feces-smelling toilet is in fact back for BK3, so there may be some truth to his claim.
- Bottles will return, but Loveday says that his family won’t. For those that’ll miss Mrs. Bottles’ scones, fear not! In the same letter, Tiptup was revealed to come back in Threeie. Break out the champagne glasses!
- In the same level Loveday mentions “Sunset Beach.” Whether or not that’s an actual level or Loveday being a smartarse remains to be seen.
- No MundoRare Scribes edition is complete without looking too much into something that isn’t there, so here’s this edition’s… edition: Regarding Banjo-3’s theme, “Banjo-Kazooie was slightly too happy for today’s ‘rough n’ tough’ gamers, whereas ‘Tooie was sometimes overly depressing. So we have a compromise – inanimate objects with googly eyes that have psychological problems as a result of a troubled childhood, dancing merrily on colourful levels to a gloomy soundtrack.” It could actually makes sense if you think about it, considering all the information on Threeie being a pleasant meld of Kazooie and Tooie. Good god…I think we are looking too far into this.
And now for everything else:
- Regarding the Viva Piñata team… Loveday points out that they only announced they were working on a new game. To top it off, Justin Cook himself writes: “I can honestly say that there is not a game called Viva Piñata 2 in production. Is that a good enough clue?” This is kind of a downer, considering the rumours in place regarding this. Furthermore, the game will supposedly be revealed before E3 2008. But for those that still want to have hope, look at the bright side… he didn’t say anything about there not being a Viva Piñata Dos in production…
- Rare once again confirms that there are more games in development thanks to David Wise: “There are a few up-and-coming titles on the way, but we’ll just have to be patient for a little while longer before these are released.”
- As for what the Conker team is working on? “Something that isn’t Conker.”
- Regarding Perfect Dark Zero: Sabotage mode lacked bots because they couldn’t recognize the props. Also, for what seems like the 40th time, Loveday once again says that the PDZ team has stopped on Downloadable Content ages ago. It’d be nice if people could stop asking that question, so that I could stop writing about it.
- In regards to Diddy Kong Racing on the Virtual Console: “Highly unlikely.”
- When asked about the dragon in Banjo-Pilot by yours truly, even the Banjo-Pilot team had no idea what I was on about. Swell. Not bitter at all. No, sirs.
- In continuing the news that Rare constantly repeats, Killer Instinct 3 is still not in development. I’m sure the 584th time’s the charm. We’re almost there.
- Perfect Dark isn’t planned to make an appearance on the Xbox Live Arcade. Considering how legally easy it’d be to do so over GoldenEye… this feels like such a missed opportunity to go all DY357L-X on random stranger’s arses.
That’s that for this edition of Scribes. Was it as epic as a tenth anniversary edition could be? No? Well, here’s to another ten years of Stop ‘n’ Swop, Perfect Dark Push-Button Codes, Mr. Pants, Arse, Killer Instinct 3, and Kameo/Perfect Dark Zero/Viva Piñata DLC. The future looks bright.
