Havok and King of the Hill join the list of Nuts & Bolts facts
EGM’s latest Nuts & Bolts article hits the stores
Nuts & Bolts is everywhere these days. With it being not only Rare’s flagship title for the moment, but probably the game that they need to prove that they still have it, who can blame the press for wanting to know everything they can? Thing is, with the internet, how new is new when your latest article has information your typical videogame player and internet savvy user knows? Let’s go through EGM’s latest preview, with new stuff and stuff that requires a little reiteration, shall we?
- The article mentions the use of the Havok physics engine in the game, so everything is “determined” from weight, force, etc.
- EGM states that there are still platforming elements, but to go by that alone would be “tough.” But then again, we knew that from the Gregg Mayles interview.
- Apparently the building mechanic generally works well, but it’s “tough to envision how it fits into any sensible narrative structure.” One word: LOG.
- Online mode is open to eight players at the moment, as well as the article stating that there is a King of the Hill variant.
- As we already knew from gameplay videos, Kazooie’s wand can be used “to move objects, flip you vehicle if it falls over, or tweak your creation’s construction in the wild without going into the garage to edit.”
- EGM’s editor considered the “costruction interface surprisingly similar to the one found in Sega’s 2006 mech battler Chromehounds (X360),” although “during a visit to Rare no one admited to hearing of it.” Sure they didn’t. In fact, who has, anyway? If not, of course is always another of those opportunities to blame Rare for copying concepts and ideas from everyone, right?
Following the theme of repetition, at the end of the article is a small section dedicated to, what else, Trouble in Paradise. Again, nothing terribly interesting to report, but it’s still worth a read anyway.

Does anyone know how the wand works?
Does it just grab the nearest item, or can you move the wand’s focus around with the second analog stick?
