Rare denies the 360mote for Banjo

Motion controller becomes a reality through a third party developer

They say that the first step to recovery is admitting there’s a problem. This obviously doesn’t reflect the video game industry, because no matter how many times something is denied to death, the truth always comes out. So imagine our surprise when Rare, through the charming and helpful Community Manager known as George Kelion denies that Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, and probably any Rare game, will use a 360mote.

Says the man himself, through Kotaku: “There’s no truth to the Banjo motion control rumor. Banjo has been designed to be played using a game pad from the outset.” He also adds in response to whether or not any other Rare game will use it, “No idea. And that’s the truth.”

Furthermore, Kelion told us: “Seriously, Banjo won’t be incorporating some kind of x-waggle.”

Although there are still people among us and even among the MundoRare staff who don’t believe the denials until Microsoft’s press conference this upcoming Monday (10.30 PST, 19.30 CET), maybe all these denials do have a point to them. After all, remember when it was said that Rare was building the 360mote? Codenamed Darwin (or Newton), it was officially revealed today on Motus Games’ site, and obviously, it’s not a Rare creation.

Darwin

In the end, maybe the rumors of Rare making it aren’t true. But if there’s any group that’s been repeatedly stung by lies without apologies (with rare exceptions, of course), it’s been video gamers. So it’s because of that that things must be seen to believe. It’s only two days from the press conference. Can you handle a weekend of suspense? Nevertheless, MundoRare will cover the conference as it happens, with hands-on impressions and other stuff during the week!

I’m glad there won’t be a 360mote that would ruin the gameplay
