Half of Rare working on yet unknown projects
Nick Burton vaguely talks about the future
If there’s one thing that long-time Rare fans are aware of, it’s that Rare is always working on at least two unannounced projects while promoting their upcoming games. Some traditions never die. Nor do the news articles reporting on variations of the same thing every once in a while.
Nick Burton, a senior software engineer responsible for games such as the somewhat recent Jetpac Refuelled, Star Fox Adventures, and Kameo: Elements of Power, had a huge interview with Videogamer.com regarding the past, present, and future. Among one of the most interesting things said was his little reference to future unannounced titles: “There’s about half the studio missing from the release schedule at the moment (laughs). You’ll be hearing soon enough, which is what I can’t say really. It’s not going to be too long.” He also emphasizes that one of the announced projects is something he’s working on multiple times in the interview.
As far as it being a Kameo sequel, Burton states that “Never say never. I’ll say that I’m not working on one at the moment. I’m not working on one at the moment. Doesn’t mean nobody else is, but that doesn’t mean they are either. Sorry.” He regards that it’s a “cultural thing” in reference of the game, but draws the line when asked whether or not it’s a First Person Shooter. According to him, “It might be a new IP. It might be an existing IP.”
Not much to draw on; just don’t get mad if Rare denies the world Killer Instinct 3 while a 3rd party ports the original 2 to XBLA (please? Pretty please?).

I agree i’d love it if they were working on a Conker sequel, but it wouldn’t suprise me if they just made a SHC vs Tediz game only, that would still be pretty cool.

Please, if anything, let it be a new Perfect Dark game without the anime/cartoon-look.
