Players yearn for more Conker and welcome back the Piñatas

Rare’s James ‘BIG Sheep’ Thomas comments on our last polls

It’s been quite a while since the last day we updated our poll and… erm, well, we decided that it was about time to give and end to the current one (as a matter of fact, we have a zillion of these things waiting to be uploaded, since one boring afternoon when we decided to brainstorm polls for the upcoming thirty decades). Therefore, here there are the final results of not the last one, but the latest two polls we published.

  • In what kind of natural reserve would you like to see piñatas in the future?
    • Xbox 360, their natural habitat - 42%
    • Nintendo DS, bring them to new landscapes - 14%
    • Both, it’s only good to have animals everywhere - 31%
    • Neither, let’s just have the poachers shoot’em up - 13%

Honestly speaking, when we came up with the Piñata options, we thought that most people were going to go for either the DS version or the 360 version. But not both of them. Most players still seem to be more excited about Viva Piñata returning to their Xbox 360, but it must be noted that quite a few of them are willing to buy the upcoming Piñata games both for their Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS.

Rare’s James Thomas feels certainly satisfied with these results, as he let us know: “We’ve been Sweetoothing away here at Rare towers on both games for a while now and so to see how they’ve been received is just fantastic. I can assure all the gardeners out there who have grown fond of the original that they won’t be disappointed with our new offerings; whether it be portable piñata-ing with the DS version or visiting new regions in glorious HD on the 360, there should be something new for everyone. We’re jamming them full with candiosity.”

And now, for those who need to check your blood glucose levels after reading that comment, let’s talk about the sour feeling of watching your most awaited game being cancelled for some unknown reason.

  • What game made you hit the alcohol upon learning of its cancellation?
    • Conker 2: Getting Medieval - My long awaited Conker sequel gone? Why? - (383 votes) - 71%
    • Battletoads - It could’ve happened before, it could happen again! Must…bug… Scribes! - (57 votes) - 11%
    • Urchin - Werewolves and creepy scholars? It would’ve made millions! - (61 votes) - 11%
    • None of the above - I prefer Live & Reloaded and/or I’m still addicted to this site - (33 votes) - 6%

The sequel to the glorious Conker’s Bad Fur Day is, by far, the most anticipated cancelled continuation of an already established franchise by Rare. 71% of the people reading this site think so. Sure, a hypothetical Killer Instinct 3 and the uber-known GoldenEye adaptation for the Xbox Live Arcade were not among the options. But it’s rather possible that even with them Conker would have achieved half of that notoriety. His first game was, easily, one of the best three or four games ever developed by the British studio.

We want a sequel. Not a remake. A sequel.

But please, don’t screw it up. The Phantom Menace and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull did enough damage to our nostalgic myth collection.

So basicly there is no reason to beleive that a new Conker is THE most wanted project. It’s just more populair than all the other options in the poll, wich in my opinion, aren’t that great.

Seriously. You should have added possible projects such as PD2 or KI3.

I sure Conker woudn’t be first…

well I’m sure it would its one of the best games to come out in a long time it took me away and really all these other cames coming out have really lost something that conker brought back with humor.
