The first Piñata Vision Card goes online!
We offer the Hootyfruity card as a sneak peak of the upcoming interview
As we all know, the upcoming Viva Piñata Trouble in Paradise will feature numerous improvements: new climates, several new species, multiplayer options… But probably the the most relevant innovation will be the use of the Xbox Live Vision Camera to create new gaming experiences.
After testing this feature ourselves some weeks ago in the New York’s Xbox Holiday Showcase, we still had some minor questions about how Microsoft and Rare want to use this tool, so we asked Piñata’s designer Ryan Stevenson about this matter.
“You don’t have to have a Vision Camera to play VP2 and you still get all the same content,” he told us. “The Vision Camera just adds a new dimension to Piñata and how you can interact with the game. Vision cards are really versatile, by showing one of the cards to the Vision Camera you can affect the weather, the time, garden items, piñatas, you can do just about anything,” he added.
Still, we were a bit worried about how those will be offered. Would they be sold at retail, or will they be included as a pack-in with the game? “How about for free!,” Stevenson firmly stated. “Yep, that’s right, absolutely free, and how about if you could make them yourself? You’ve got that too, by taking a picture using the in-game camera you can choose to turn it into a card and trade it online. We’re giving this to the fans to play with and have fun.”
In fact, the guys at Rare have already toyed with this idea and have come with their own pack of cards (each of them featuring one of the new species and the name of one of the Trouble in Paradise developers). “The team has had so much fun with the vision cards we’ve created our own team set, so you’ll have to see if you can find them all,” Stevenson said while tempting us not only with the picture above these lines (click on it to resize it), but also with the very first Vision Card available on the Internet (again, resize it by clicking on it): “To get your collection started here’s mine, I’m a bit of a murder mystery fan so I’ve created a Hootyfruity to solve your unexplained event in your garden!”
You’ll just be able to scan the barcode of this exclusive pic in less than a month, since Viva Piñata Trouble in Paradise will be released worldwide in a few weeks (September 2nd in America, and September 5th in Europe). But before it, be sure to check back MundoRare over the weekend to enjoy the last of our recent exclusive interviews, this time with Ryan Stevenson.
