Xbox Dashboard rumoured to be updated in early September
Will a price cut include The Fast and the Furriest and Darwin?
Ah, rumors. Either completely true (Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise, the Avatar system), or so off the mark (the never-ending KI3 story). These latest batch of rumors are no different, although there is truth to them.
First off, there have been some websites stating that the Avatars will be finally be implemented via the Fall Update on September 7th. If this is true, this would mark Rare having three products (since the Avatar system is just as much a game as Taboo: The Sixth Sense is) on the market at the same time, alongside Trouble in Paradise and Pocket Paradise. Since September technically does fall in Fall, we wouldn’t rule out this rumor.
As for a rumour that we can rule out? According to a few sites, the Xbox 360 Arcade will be having its price cut down to $199. Not just that, but according to Xbox 360 Fanboy, it will come prepackaged with the Fall Update and… a Motion sensing controller with mini-games by Rare (which had the words “mini-games” linking to their news story of The Fast and the Furriest).
Great, except for a few things. First off, the Rare Witch Project more or less confirmed through their sources that The Fast and the Furriest was canceled years ago. Add that in conjunction with us knowing that the Darwin is not a Microsoft-exclusive project, but a third party developer responsible for the design and controller, and this is unlikely.
In the end, only time can tell, yet it’s not like Rare’s surprised us before. This time, I don’t think it’d be for the better.

It says “This new $199 Xbox 360 Arcade bundle is said to release Holiday 2008.” This price drop in September is just the first price drop to $199 and will not include the motion controller. Come this holiday(November, around the Xbox anniversary, I expect) you’ll get the special motion controller bundle.

This rumor is false.
The update will not come until late fall, meaning (at the earliest) late October.
