Art For Art’s (and for video games’) Sake
BK Anniversary Celebration's Giveaway winners announced!
They say that some fansites take on the qualities of the companies they’re covering to an incredibly close degree sometimes. Regardless of whether or not the above sentence was actually said somewhere before you read it, we can’t deny that we took a page out of Rare’s past and had this delayed for a bit longer than it should’ve been.
It’s been challenging to find the time when we’ve had so many articles, features, and even reviews to do in these past months; we’ve arguably have had the most content to write about as a Rare fansite since the site began nearly 8 years ago. Rare themselves have been busy as well, what with promoting the recently released Piñata titles as well as getting the final touches on Nuts & Bolts done. Nevertheless, I’m sure you’re sick of waiting, so without further ado, here are the top three contest winners, judged by Rare employee Steve Mayles himself!
“Judge Mayles Jnr has the final results!”
Winner: Stuart O’Brien - (England)
“A close call for the top spot, but this wins for the surprise and amusement of seeing a full-size Banjo vehicle created. Yes, you can imagine jumping in and crashing through that fence to explore Nutty Acres. Er, maybe…”
Second: Alfonso Díaz Martínez - (Mexico)
“A finely crafted and well designed original piece, I especially like Banjo’s teeth!”
Third: Kyle Frisch - (USA)
“A very accurate representation of the new-style Banjo, carefully constructed in a very appropriate medium to highlight the angular edges.”
All of them are definitely works of art. Speaking as someone who can’t even assemble the easiest of physical items, you have to admire the talent, love, and time that went into these entries.
In accordance with the delay, Rare has decided to up the stakes of the winners. While the original prize was supposed to be a poster signed by Ryan Stevenson, all three of the winners will get the lovely poster as consolation prizes thanks to Rare. While the grand prize of a signed copy of both Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise as well as Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts for Xbox 360 shall go to Stuart O’ Brien. Congratulations; cherish them well.
The level of commitment you all put was simply great, and it truly was a tough time choosing the winner. On behalf of MundoRare and Rare, we thank all the contestants for participating in this contest.
