Major Nelson shows how to build an Avatar
A very intuitive interface welcomes new users
Anyone who had doubts regarding the upcoming avatars system for Xbox 360, can think again. Yesterday, Major Nelson, director of programming for Xbox Live, posted a second entry on this matter, this time including an interesting video showing how to build your first Avatar.
As it can be seen, you “choose an Avatar as an starting point” from a random group, and from there you can customize it pretty easily. The interface for replacing the hair, adding stuff to your Avatar’s face, finding trendy clothers, make it more heavier or thiner… it couldn’t be more intuitive.
The video also shows how to play with them by spinning them around or making them express some emotions -like laughting- or not that quite polite actions -like burping-.
Expect much more on Rare’s designed Avatars as the Dashboard update approaches, this Fall.

Woah, woah, woah, what? You don’t have to use this system dude. Chill out. And a PS3 is a waste. Don’t do it.
Comment by BanjoBoy123 — 21.Sep.08 @ 3:13 amI meant by system, the avatar system.
Comment by BanjoBoy123 — 21.Sep.08 @ 3:14 amLooks cool. Better than Miis since they acually have hands and stuff. Don’t see why hardcore gamers are pissed as they will all still get to play Gears and, the awesome, Fallout 3.
Comment by Dudz — 21.Sep.08 @ 5:30 amSo when Home arrvies on the PS3 and you get to built your character for that, what will the hard core gamers do then ?
Oh, yes! Buy a top of the line Gaming PC. I guess, if they were so hard core, they would have done that in the first place, eh!!!
