Banjo-Kazooie XBLA delayed to December 3rd

Those that pre-ordered should check with retailers to get their cards

It’s sad when really great pre-order incentives get screwed over one way or the other. Fable II’s pre-order bonuses got cut in half, depriving us of the cool collectible Hobbe figure that I still mourn the lack of nightly. Banjo-Kazooie on XBLA unfortunately continues this trend.

If you pre-ordered Nuts & Bolts at participating retailers, you should’ve gotten a card that, once redeemed, would’ve let you play BK on XBLA two days before Nuts & Bolts‘ release. That’s only half of the story. According to 1UP.com’s on-the-spot detective sleuthing, they discovered that in their area, “two separate Gamestops… informed… that they had only been sent two preorder codes for the whole store — significantly less than the number of preorders they had taken on the game. The problem is not limited to GameStop stores either, as others in the office had preordered the game from Amazon and also never received download codes for Banjo-Kazooie.”

Banjo-Kazooie on XBLA

Microsoft had this to say regarding official statements: “We are aware that some customers who pre-ordered Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts have not received their voucher code for Banjo-Kazooie on Xbox LIVE Arcade. We are currently investigating this situation, but we believe it represents a small fraction of the total number of pre-order customers. We encourage anyone who pre-ordered Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and did not receive a voucher code to follow up directly with your retailer’s customer service team for resolution.”

In response to this, in order to provide those that pre-ordered with a better chance of getting the cards, Microsoft has “moved the global release of Banjo-Kazooie for XBLA to December 3rd.” Those that pre-ordered, get a move on and (politely) call your retailer of choice and hope you don’t have to pay 1200 MS Points on it that day.

Who would’ve thought thin pieces of cardboard would be so hard to get? As always, MundoRare will update with news as it happens, as well as a BK XBLA review very soon.

Glad I didn’t pre-order it.
