Various Banjo XBLA bugs, fixed
Find a BK classic theme for the NXE on the Marketplace
Since Banjo XBLA’s release three weeks ago, several bugs have been reported -and now fixed- by this port’s developer 4J Studios. Users without the BKXBLA bonus code (those who didn’t pre-order Nuts & Bolts, and also the ones who did it but didn’t get the code) would have noticed a game update popping up after pressing start on the last Xbox Live Arcade title.
The most significant problem that has been fixed addresses to the Bottles Secret Puzzle glitch. Inside Banjo’s house there’s a not-that-secret-now moving puzzle where our predilect bear wanders around in different levels’ areas, collecting items while the player tries to solve the minigame. But when that Banjo collected some musical notes, they were removed from the original world, avoiding the gamer to collect them later in the game if he hadn’t done so yet. The most significant impact was that some players couldn’t get all the 900 notes in the game. Well, now, according to Rare’s George Kelion, that glitch has been solved “for all players starting the game afresh.”
More strange was other glitch that affected to some weird leaderboards entries, with even a couple of users having more than 900 notes in their total scores. They have also been fixed now, but Kelion states that “two of the leaderboards will need to be reset to make everything fair and square again. Resetting the Bubblegloop Swamp [level] and Game Totals leaderboards is an essential but unavoidable bit of backroom maintenance.” To do so, please, just follow these steps:
- Re-enter the Bubblegloop Swamp level.
- Step off the entrance pad and then step back onto it as quickly as you can.
- Banjo and Kazooie will be taken back to the level’s entrance.
- Quickly exit.
- This will update your existing score for this level and update your Game Total at the same time. Your scores will also be written to the leaderboards and normality will be returned.
- If you haven’t made it to Bubblegloop Swamp then DON’T PANIC! Just play the game normally and the Game Total leaderboard will update naturally.
Finally, the patch will also solve some issues experienced by people playing in 1080i and 1080p.
On the other hand, if only a few days ago we commented on the new Nuts & Bolts and Trouble in Paradise themes for the NXE, following the release of Banjo-Kazooie XBLA we must also make reference to the new BK classic theme available on the Marketplace for 250 MS Points. Transform your Xbox into a Nintendo 64, and remember the good ol’ times when Red Rings of Death weren’t a menace for anybody!

This “update” doesn’t fix anything! I installed it before ever playing the game and I still got that b*llsh*t notes bug. Now I have to play through the whole f*cking game again to get that f*cking achievement. F*ck you Rare and M$. You have once again proved how adept you are at taking something that works perfectly and completely f*cking it over.

If it works perfectly on your N64 then just continue to play it on your N64 you whiny little girl. And the sad thing is you are probably a grown man. How pathetic.
Comment by Steve — 16.Dec.08 @ 8:22 pmwell I were like two hours in Mad Monster Mansion for only 4 notes, but well, in my N64 I finished the game several times I can do it here
VeryPOd’s just sad that he didn’t get the on foot platformer he wrote in his diary about.
If it works perfectly on your N64, then go play it on your N64 and stop complaining about the XBLA version.
You grow up, man.
Didn’t work for me either, but whatever. Once again so close, yet so far.
Comment by Hudson — 14.Mar.09 @ 4:30 amI didn’t download this game until after the update was issued…and I still got the Bottles Puzzles Glitch. So much for helping out “all players starting afresh”.
Comment by geekchic — 15.Apr.09 @ 3:56 amI got BanjoKazooie a mere week ago, approx. 5th June 2010, and the notes bug has still screwed me over. To get all the achievements I need a new file. They must release a proper fix eventually, this is really not on, especially when the patch they released clearly hasn’t done what they claim it should.
