The Nuts & Bolts DLC “doesn’t contain the Weird West”
LOG's Lost Challenges and some extra stuff, coming to Xbox Marketplace
You may remember that some days ago Rare promised through their official website imminent information about some unexpected DLC content for Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, entitled “LOG’s Lost Challenges“. That info was supposed to come “as soon as“… last week. But in the tradition of Rare, they later announced “a minor technical delay,” which was allegedly “caused by Grunty’s gremlins dropping a spanner into the works.”
Well, it seems that either Grunty bots have also been toying around with the new Xbox EMEA newsletter or Microsoft jumped the gun revealing some of that new stuff last night. According to Microsoft’s Xbox Live Team this “LOG’s Challenge Game Add-on” is rated PEGI+7 and doesn’t have a release date yet (at least, nothing more specific than the typical “coming soon”). These details come with the following description: “Don’t look now, but the Lord of Games (LOG) has cooked up a series of fiendish new challenges for Banjo and Kazooie! They’re all scheduled to take place in LOG’s bizarre video game factory located in Showdown Town. Only the most fearless and inventive among you will survive!”
Apparently, that info is not accurate enough, though. In fact, Rare’s Mike Wilson assured at the official BK forums that “it contains false information: L.O.G.’s video game factory is not the location of the challenges that make up some of the DLC.” In turn, George Kelion assured that “where it is set exactly is still hush-hush for now… it may even have been under your noses all this time.” Hum, interesting, isn’t it?
From the official forums we also know for sure that “the DLC contains more than just challenges” but it “doesn’t contain ‘the Weird West’”, which was supposed to be the sixth game world, removed in the final version of the game. Brother Mike also confirmed that “the DLC will be accompanied by the 3rd Nuts & Bolts community night”.

But, wait, there are some more details! LOG’s Lost Challenges are not the only downloadable stuff coming for Nuts & Bolts. According to Kelion, “to sweeten the deal and to spread some furry bear love from us over to you, we’ll also be slinging some absolutely free (free, as in beer) nifty goodies over on Xbox Live Marketplace for you to download soon. We hope that they serve to give your online gaming experience a nice little makeover…”
So, be sure to squeeze your Resident Evil 5 coop in the coming days while Rare tune up the final aspects for what seems to be a whole plethora of downloadable offerings.
Update: The Spanish version of the Xbox Live newsletter, published some days after the English one, makes an amend to the original paragraph and states that all the LOG’s Lost Challenges will “take place in the Test-O-Track” from Mumbo’s Motors.
