Banjo-Tooie’s upcoming theme hints at Perfect Dark XBLA

Devil Bottles and the Stop 'n’ Swop Theme join in on the teasing

The month of Banjo news continued a few days ago with a sneak peek of the BT XBLA Dashboard Theme coming this Friday for 250 MS Points. Yet what would Rare be without being the teases that they are?

The most interesting hint, personally speaking, isn’t the one that’s Banjo-related. In the very first screenshot, the last games played by the Gamertag are BT XBLA, Death Tank, BK XBLA, and…a picture of Joanna Dark circa her Perfect Dark N64 days. Is it an announcement of things to come? Probably, however, keep this in mind: when MundoRare went to the Xbox Holiday Showcase, a Microsoft representative told us that they were looking into bringing more of Rare’s N64 classics to the Xbox Live Arcade.

PD icon in the Banjo-Tooie Theme

With Goldeneye XBLA’s chances of release already slim to none thanks to Nintendo’s stubbornness, it only makes sense to release one of the best first person shooters out there. If it really is coming out, one could assume that online play will be a major selling point, as well as fixing the massive slowdown that the game had during multiplayer. In short, it may be a tease at the moment, but don’t rule out its release. Here’s hoping that if it is real, they’ll fix the PD icon into a something a little less blurry and more promotional arty.

On the Banjo side of news, we might be getting more with BT XBLA besides the working Stop ‘n’ Swop promised over ten years ago. In the first screenshot, the last video played is called, unsurprisingly enough, Stop ‘n’ Swop. The next screenshot has another theme simply titled the “Banjo-Tooie Stop ‘n’ Swop Theme.” Last but not least, the last screenshot shows none other than Devil Bottles at the right-hand side. Bottles Revenge as a Stop ‘n’ Swop reward, anyone?

With Banjo-Tooie’s new set of free Gamerpics coming out tomorrow as well as an Easter-themed video, the answers to our questions (particularly, the release date and pricing of the sequel the way it should’ve been) will come out sooner than you expect…
