Would Rare dig an RPG project?
Plot-driven genres are top choices among fans
So here we have another poll’s results and the consequent remarks from the people at Rare themselves. Some time ago, when we asked about what genre would you like to see them working on, we offered several answer options, including the popular RPGs and Survival Horror. Apparently, most of you would like to see role-playing games and graphic adventures coming from Twycross, while the Rare guys prefer to work on more challenging stuff than the one taking any conceivable, current genre as a basis.
- RPG, like Mass Effect. (223 votes) – 32%
- Graphic Adventure, like Monkey Island. (200 votes) – 29%
- Survival Horror, like Resident Evil. (103 votes) – 15%
- Flying Combat Simulator, like Rogue Squadron. (16 votes) – 2%
- Music Game, like Guitar Hero. (16 votes) – 2%
- Adult Game, like those you tell nobody about. (131 votes) – 19%
Rare’s Creative Director George Andreas dropped us a line, noting that he certainly feels happy to know what people care about, while assuring that Rare is capable of all that and much more. “It’s always fun to find out what the community would most like us to work on next,” he said. “But what’s with all these traditional genres? Give us some credit, we’re far more interesting than that! We like to mix things up a little, so why not a combination of all six – like a zombie-flight-sim-point-n’-click-RPG-rhythm-action game?”
I’d definitely buy that game. Anything starting with the word “zombie”, I already like it.

okay, this was a stupid poll. the only reason I even voted was honestly to choose the best of the worst, i don’t like any of these genres mentioned to be honest.. and i dont see rare working on any of these types of games. if anything theyre more in line with fps, or “not so platforming” platform games

I’m not really sure about an rpg but I’d really like to see something like resident evil but more comedic from them.

A RPG would be cool but more along the old school Syndicate or Fallout games. I would love to see what Rare could do with the third person air view of an RPG. An Adventure game like the old school LucasArts games would be cool.
But I would love to see a Side-scroller game or puzzle game from rare. When I say puzzle I mean like what Blizzard did with Lost Viking. May be even a Space sim Shooter would be good too.
There are so many different games genres that Rare could do wonders to like Shoot ‘Em Up, Tycoon games, real-time strategy the list goes on and on.
But what ever Rare has plans for next it should be really good. So I can’t wait to see what Rare will show next.

vamos rare, asi ganaran mas fans
me parece almenos rescatable la idea de Hacer un nuevo juego de Banjo Kazooie tipo RPG,
almenos que usara los movimientos de los primeros juegos, y con eso de recolectar piezas, jefes, dungeons, se aria mas largo el juego y mas una historia chida, se haria un juego exelente para rescatar la (poca) dignidad que le queda a la empresa.
considerenlo, almenos que banjo tenga su banjo threeie para DS.
y que regresen con nintendo, tontos XD
