Perfect Dark XBLA will arrive in March for 800 MS Points
It will include everything you loved from the original and more
The wait for PD XBLA, the game that Rare loved to tease us about a few weeks ago on Twitter, is almost over. First thing’s first: Perfect Dark XBLA will be released sometime in March to coincide with XBLA’s Block Party (think the Summer of Arcade, but… in March). The price of the game is confirmed to be 800 MS Points (10 US dollars and 9.6 euros, respectively), which, all things considered, is a damn good price to pay for this. Why? Let’s count the ways:
- IGN reports that, in addition to the game running at 1080p and 60 frames per second, character models that were originally 300 polygons are now 3500, while guns that were 150 polygons are now close to 2000.
- Two new control set-ups, entitled “Spartan” and “Duty Calls,” will be included in the remake. Considering the 360’s fanbase, it shouldn’t be difficult to decipher what each control scheme references.
- Instead of four player multiplayer, multiplayer is now playable with eight players online. Features like Co-op and Counter-Op are playable both online and offline. Splitscreen mode is also available both online and off.
- GoldenEye’s three levels, Temple, Facility, and Complex, are still in the game, but with a new twist: remember the single-player only GoldenEye guns brought back from Perfect Dark? They’re now available to use in multiplayer. Which means that, in a very small way, GoldenEye will be on the 360 after all. Ken Lobb also told IGN that GoldenEye 007 XBLA was “up and running to the same level as the Xbox Live version of Perfect Dark” was. Assuming he means all the features included in this game, such as additional multiplayer options and control schemes, it sadly brings back the pain about a lack of GoldenEye.
Rare has also released new screenshots of the game, which you can see here.

Finally, why not see the game in action for yourself with Rare’s official trailer? Bonus points for the inclusion of the 4J Studios logo; those fine chaps do deserve credit, after all.
Either way, the new features are sure to impress, and March can’t get here any faster. At ten dollars, with the additions that were made, it should be a no-brainer that Perfect Dark must be added to your Xbox Live Arcade collection.

Comment by waaaaa — 14.Feb.10 @ 12:37 amBut even a theme counts as DLC. So I’m a little bit sceptical if we’ll get more than that…
The game looks fantastic in motion I have to say. I was a little bit disappointed with the technical side of 4J’s Tooie port but this looks ace! Let’s hope the Live multiplayer is as solid as PDZ’s. I also love how 4J’s logo is used in the logo transformation sequence. Well deserved.
Comment by Sabreman — 14.Feb.10 @ 12:32 pm800 pts? That’s pretty cheap for a 64 remake.
Comment by digiharrison — 14.Feb.10 @ 11:26 pmWhy make Banjo-Kazooie & Tooie 1200 pts, but make Perfect Dark 800 pts? That’s really weird especially when hardcore gamers are more likely to buy Perfect Dark than Banjo.
